Keeping your horse groomed and maintained is an important part of horse ownership and husbandry. Keeping your kit stocked with all the essentials will make caring for your horse much easier (and more enjoyable!)
Hoof pick: As the saying goes “no hoof, no horse”, that’s why this tool should be number one in everyone’s grooming kit and the first task undertaken when grooming your horse. It's important to clean your horse’s hooves out daily to remove any unwanted dirt and debris. Hoof oil: Hoof oil is another import item to keep on hand. Generally oiling your horse’s hooves doesn’t need to be done every day, aim for 2-4 times per week depending on the weather. Dandy brush: A dandy brush is an oval shaped brush with long, stiff bristles. A dandy brush is used for removing excess dirt, particularly dirt already loosened by the curry comb. The dandy brush is a useful tool for the horse’s legs when mud is present. Shampoo & conditioner: When washing your horse, it’s important to use a shampoo and condition that has been formulated for horses. Horse skin has a different pH level to humans.
